Create.

And be creative

This project features various vintage items from the Design Museum in London. To recreate the feeling of curiosity and unearthing I felt in my discovery of this vast collection of unique items, each object’s illustration is described only using text written in invisible ink, and made visible using UV flashlights. This interactive process encourages the viewer to embrace the explorer within while preserving that feeling one gets when discovering something new. This hand-bound booklet was made using specialist paper and card from G.F Smith and the text was written using invisible ink markers and stencil templates.

The Cake Cartel mobile game stills

These vector images were produced using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. These mock-ups were made for a demo mobile phone game called ‘The Cake Cartel’. This game has multiple endings so the images featured may appear different to the above depending on the choices of the player.

Promotional Design

Below are a selection of promotional materials produced for a Guyanese mobile phone company that sells cell phones and phone plans. These were created using the Adobe creative suite.

This design was initially inspired by illusion art, after refining and reworking I ended up simplifying the elements.

Poster Design

Want it.

These posters are one part of a three-part project inspired by consumerism, over-consumption, time consumption, self-image, and materialism. This project explored associating our self-image, confidence, and worth with the things that we purchase, own, and use. I explored whether this was inherently bad or dangerous or whether self-awareness and moderation could prevent problems.

Have it.

I questioned my own place as a consumer asking myself how I felt when I wore designer clothing did it effect the way I saw my self or give me more confidence? Would wearing makeup and using beauty techniques make me feel assured?

Need it.

All of this can be put under the roof of 'consumption' how do we consume our time? on our phones, social media, working? How do we consume our money? Waiting for the weekends, saving for holidays? getting more stuff? Ultimately how do we consume our lives?

Cover design for To Kill a Mockingbird

I wanted to make this deign sinister focusing on the darker aspects of the book. After looking at various cover designs I saw a lot that focused on the children in the book and I wanted to approach from a different angle.

“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing except make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corn cribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.”

The Mockingbird in the image is dying crushed by the hand clutching it. The hand and bird image was made using a drawing tablet. I used Adobe illustrator and Photoshop to manually paint each stroke similarly to how I would on paper. I wanted to have the image digital to expand my options for editing in the early design stages. Overall I enjoyed the process especially as at the time I had not created many things with a drawing tablet.
